Hand made Shmurah Matzah campaign

  • Hand Made Shmurah Matzah campaign

  • This year, with a primary focus on ensuring the safety and well-being of our fellow brothers and sisters in Israel, we are excited to announce our initiative to distribute an increased quantity of handcrafted Shmurah Matzah to the Jewish community in Northwest Seattle. Our goal is to enhance and enrich the Passover experience for everyone involved.

The distribution of these Matzahs will be facilitated by dedicated volunteers and will be conveniently available for pickup at the Chabad Center. To successfully achieve our goal and make this initiative a success, we are calling on volunteers to help with the distribution. Additionally, you can contribute by donating towards this project. Your support will play a vital role in fostering a sense of community and solidarity during this significant time.

Join us in this meaningful endeavor as we come together to share the spirit of Passover and strengthen the bonds within our community. Your assistance is greatly appreciated as we work towards creating a memorable and joyous Passover celebration for everyone involved.

    Handmade Shmurah Matzah

Round, kneaded, and shaped by hand, present-day "Shmurah" Matzahs (lit. watched Matzahs) are similar to those eaten by the Jews when leaving Egypt over 3000 years ago. From the moment the wheat is harvested, the ingredients are carefully monitored to ensure that they do not become leavened, which would be prohibited on Passover.

This is part of a global Passover campaign that began in 1954 when the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of blessed memory, launched the Shmurah Matzah initiative as part of an effort to create awareness and promote the observance of the holiday.

The Rebbe taught that no solitary Jewish person should be left out. Every Jew, regardless of their background or affiliation, should have access to authentic Handmade Shmurah Matzah.

Please sign up, and we will notify you once the Matzahs arrive and are ready to be distributed.
